My Review of:"Motorcycle Man" (Dream Man #4)

Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4)Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After having revisited this awesome read, produced by KA herself, all I can say is that this book does not disappoint at all. It's chock full of delicious drama, hawt sex, and memorable characters.

In 2012, I read this book, and declared it to be "another winner by Kristen Ashley. Totally loved it... This story did not disappoint."

Almost 2 years after having read "Motorcycle Man," I still believe that it is one of KA's crowning achievements.

Giving this one 4 delicious stars...

My Review of: "Jabril (Vampires in America #2) "

Jabril (Vampires in America #2)Jabril by D.B. Reynolds
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

***ARC generously supplied by Netgalley.com, in exchange for an honest review***

After having read this paranormal tale of a heartless vampire bastard, and the tough Chica who kicks a lot of ass and takes plenty of names, all I can say is that I really liked the way that D.B. Reynolds built this world of vamp lovers, haters, and all around sadists. Reading Raphael & Cyn's story has made me thirsty for more books written by D.B.

The only things that I didn't like were the moments of lagging in the 1st half of the book, along with the way the sex scenes were written, other than that, this story had some moments of brilliance that compelled me to stick with it until the end.

Giving this book, 3.5 stars.

My Review of: "Law Man"

Law Man (Dream Man, #3)Law Man by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

**ARC given courtesy of NetGalley.com, in exchange for an honest review***

This is one of the few KA novels that I hadn't been able to read until now, and I am so glad that I waited. For the most part, this book was Awesome! Although it lagged in a few areas, this book was chock full of Romance, Hawt Sex, Mystery, Action, and Adventure.

The dialog was awesome, and the characters were multi-dimensional. And as always, KA gives us something to ponder on, in regards to self-esteem and not using a crapaholic past to determine what can be a bright future.

Giving this one 5 stars.

My Review of: "No Wonder You Feel Like Crap"

No Wonder You Feel Like Crap!: The Hidden, Deadly Connection Between Stress, Diet, and DiseaseNo Wonder You Feel Like Crap!: The Hidden, Deadly Connection Between Stress, Diet, and Disease by Richard Weinstein
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I hate to say this, but I literally ran away from this book.. Why, you might ask? I'll tell you why! Because I like junk food, candy, Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes, and other "fun stuff!"

But I have to say that staying on the overeating crazy train is not smart, as a matter of fact it can be downright deadly. And this was something that I found out when my Appendix decided to go into hyperdrive, became infected, and literally burst. (Yes folks, I have the hospital invoices to prove it!)

So, what can I say? That Braum's, Taco Bell, Sonic Drive-In, Frito Lay, Coca-Cola, and Pepsi made me stay on the crazy train? No. It was my decision to eat all of that crap, and it is now my responsibility to treat my body like the temple that it is, and eat better.

That's not to say that I'll never indulge in a slice of decadent "Cheesecake Factory" Cheesecake, but what it does mean is that I'll increase my daily portion of healthier Proteins, and Veggies, and I'll eliminate most of the cereal, potatoes, sugar, and anything that has glutamate and gluten, in it.

This book was well written and was simple enough for any diet simpleton to understand it.

Giving this one 4 stars.

Although I enjoyed this compilation of love, hope, and holiday jeer, the 3 novellas that really stood out for me are: Hope Ramsey's "Silent Night" and Molly Cannon's "Have a Messy Little Christmas,"
and Marilyn Pappano's "A Family for Christmas."

Other than that, this was a fun read.

My Review of: "Whatever He Wants"

Whatever He WantsWhatever He Wants by Eve Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Awesome read... One of the best books that Eve Vaughn has ever written.

Fully realized characters, captivating storyline, and an all around compelling story of 2 broken people who learn to deal with their past issues for the sake of future gains.

It's 3am, and I have to say that it was so good, that I just couldn't put it down.

Before I sign off, I must give a million words of thanks to the Fans of Interracial Romance group member, who was kind enough to loan it me...

My Review of: "Kaleidoscope (Colorado Mountain, #6)"

Kaleidoscope (Colorado Mountain, #6)Kaleidoscope by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

** ARC generously provided by Netgalley.com,in exchange for an honest review ***

After giving it some thought, I decided to revise my review:

Sometimes, change can difficult, if not downright frustrating, and not to mention, maddening, but regardless, change must come.

I said that to say that I've noticed that Kristen Ashley's most recent books that have been released via a larger publishing house, and in my opinion, although she has the added amenities of professional editing and marketing, on her side, it seems as if her books have lost a significant amount of the old "KA magic."

When KA was a 1 woman self-publishing wonder, we (her fanbase) didn't really care too much about the numerous editing snafu's (run-on sentences, misspellings, etc), but we did care about the quality and overall content of KA's books. The good thing was this, when KA delivered a book (such as Rock Chicks, etc), you knew that you were getting something that going to literally rock your world. And she did it for the low price of 5 bucks and under.

Now that there are "professionals" involved with delivering the KA "Goodness" to her fans, it feels a little different.

However, one thing that I do like, is that her message of empowerment, loving oneself, and healthy body image has not been lost, and for that I am grateful.

For those who haven't always had it easy in life, her books are awesome in that they help to give that person a different perspective about who they are as a woman, regardless of what they look like. Because overall, every woman owes to herself to pull her shit together, and meet the world head on with confidence, purpose, and conviction of spirit.

In regards to this book, my only complaints are;(1) after the 25% mark in the book, it seemed to go off course, but it got back on track after the 75% mark, (2)there should have been more development where the antagonist was concerned, and (3) the inclusion of references to the backgrounds of characters from her other books was seriously irritating.

Other than that, I was well pleased with the first and last quartiles of the book.

Hopefully KA and her editors will make the necessary changes, quick fast and in a hurry.

Giving this one, 3.5 stars.

My Review of: "He's So Into You"

He's So Into YouHe's So Into You by Roxy Wilson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

In my opinion, this was a decent 1st effort by debut writer Roxy Wilson. Although it had it's issues (ex. lagging, lack of character depth, etc) this was a fairly good tale of second chance love, redemption, and inner healing.

My Review of: "The Space Between (Space, #1)"

The Space Between (Space, #1)The Space Between by Victoria H. Smith

Although I liked this book, in my opinion, it wasn't exactly pitch perfect.

Other than that, the author has done a pretty decent job with presenting a story that's somewhat evenly paced (except in the beginning, where it lagged), and she has also managed to craft an ensemble of fully realized characters that live and breath.

Giving this one 3 solid stars.

After having read this uber-hawt tale of a hedonistic codependent mogul in hot pursuit of a married Chica who needs to get a clue, all I can say is "Wow...." It was fairly good, but it was definitely filthy... Oh well, I knew what I was getting into when I read the previous reviews..

My Review of: "Your Love Is King"

Your Love Is KingYour Love Is King by Adrienne Thompson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After having read this inspirational IRR, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it, and on top of that, I found it to be quite captivating.

I liked it so much that I started reading this book @ 4pm, and I managed to finish it at 7:05pm. For me to be that captivated by any book, is a good thing.

In my opinion, the author has managed to craft a quality piece of fiction with fully realized characters, an awesome storyline, a pinch of delicious drama and sensuality, and not to mention, some non-preachaholic spirituality as well.

I greatly appreciate the fact that the author was able to convey the message that yes, Christians sometimes cuss, make bad life decisions, and look for love in all the wrong places. It's about time that somebody decided to step up, and tell it "like it is."

Giving this one 3.75 stars.

Doug and Carlie (Doug & Carlie, #1)Doug and Carlie by Lisa Smartt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love books that are chock full of snappy dialog, "downhome" wisdom, and memorable characters. Although it started out a little slow, I discovered that the author was merely laying a foundation for a relationship between the main characters.

If you're turned off by the cover, don't be. "Doug and Carlie" is a wonderful gem that is captivating and heart-warming. In my opinion, it felt real, and it left me feeling hopeful and optimistic about the interesting way that God can lead us to certain people.

After having read this, I'm tempted to buy the entire series, sight unseen.

Although this was a fun little adventure (a novella, of all things...), it wasn't exactly perfect.

The flow of the story was decent, and the sex was hot, but I felt that the characters could have been more multidimensional... Also, I want more story with my sex, so go figure...

I know, I know,... with an erotic novella, you can only expect so much...

Hoping that the author will make some improvements by turning this one into a series...

My Review of "Just Once" by Julianna Keyes

Just OnceJust Once by Julianna Keyes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ARC provided courtesy of "Irresistible Reads" Book Tour ****

Being a full-time student, and not to mention a full-time employee, doesn't leave me much time to indulge in reading. With that being said, when I do have a chance to read, not only do I want to be amazed, but I also want to be captivated by a story that's well-crafted, but also, I want to get lost in the world of characters that are "real," and not to mention, multidimensional. Overall, I want to read a story that compels me to continue reading until the very end.

While reading this tale of "Summer Love", not only was I pleased with the way that Ms. Keyes developed the characters of Kate and Shane, but I also liked the fact that she gave life to the other characters existing in their world as well. In my opinion, not only was the story evenly paced, but the dialog detailing Shane's seduction of Kate, was especially "Uber-Hawt..." (As I was reading those lines, I kept thinking that I'd never quite heard a male character make their move, quite like "that" before...)

My only issues with this book are the fact that it started a little slow, and also, with the fact that the epilog was almost nonexistent. Personally, I wanted to know what happens with Shane and Kate.

Perhaps there's a sequel in the works, I don't know, but I do know this, one book was definitely not enough.

My Review of "GianMarco (Blood Brothers #1)" by Eve Vaughn

GianMarco (Blood Brothers)GianMarco by Eve Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really do hate having to say this, but there are some books that bring out the natural-born wimp in me. So with that being the case, let me say this, I starting reading this book, got grossed out, and then fast forwarded through it. Although it had it's good points, in my opinion it just went a little too far with the overall "ickiness" of the sex(ual) scenes/dialog, menage and otherwise.

So with that being said, I'm going to cite someone else's review, as posted via Amazon.com:

Or at least called it for what it is...pnp, as in paranormal porn (i just made that up but it's catchy, right?). I didn't know beforehand but there's mfm & mmmf scenes as well as back door action. This book should have came with a red flashing warning sign. Definitely not for everyone. Hell, I'm still trying to figure out how I feel w/o examining my reaction too closely.

There's a storyline in the depravity...I think. And, there's a pretty decent plot . But to get into the story, you must set aside a great amount of logic and not flinch at some of the word choices, i.e "donkey dong" and intimate scenes. Not to mention, how these vampires feed or I should say, what they feed on is a little disturbing. Consuming blood is a given, but get this. These vampires also feed on secretions from sex organs. Yeah, that was one of many WTF moments for me. So you can imagine what happens when the heroine "feeds" from her husband's three brothers in such a fashion that allows them to simultaneously satisfy her hunger - as in all three making deposits at the exact same time. I will let you figure that one out (another WTF moment for me).

So why the high rating ? I'm glad you asked. Honestly, I like to be shocked from time to time, to be extremely disturbed, and conflicted. Torn between wanting to bathe in bleach and wanting a sneak peek of book 2. I don't recommend this book to everyone. In fact, I would never admit to reading it but dam, it was fun! LOL!

Fyi: cliff hanger and BBW advisory.
(Dee, 2013)

With all of that being said, I'm going to merge my score of 2.5 stars and Dee's score of 4 stars, and give you a mean score of 3.25 stars.

My Review for Zena Wynn's "Beyond the Breaking Point"

Beyond the Breaking PointBeyond the Breaking Point by Zena Wynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was great! Chock full of Delicious Drama, this book serves as a gigantic red light for those who are considering revenge sex as an act of warfare against a philandering spouse..

Not only did I enjoy the flow of the book, but I also enjoyed the multidimensional characters, and the way that Ms. Wynn conveyed their thoughts, actions, and feelings to her readers.

Other than that, the only things that I did not like about this book are the price (way too frickin' much), a few issues with typo's/editing, and the fact that this book is not legally lendable via Kindle (or even Nook, for that matter)...

*Note to Ms. Wynn - I understand that you're trying to make a living by writing and whatever else, but if you want to discourage piracy, why not make it easier for people to buy the book , share it with 1 person, thereby encouraging lots of other people to buy the book as well? What's so hard about that?*

This series is Highly Underrated!
The DragonThe Dragon by Violette Dubrinsky
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This absolutely has to be one of the top 5 Interracial Romance-Suspense novels of all frickin' time! I don't know what Violette Dubrinsky is obtaining her Grad degree in, but one thing that I do know is this, and that is, that chica puts her heart & soul into a novel and does it with excellence!

LaTrivia Nelson & Sienna Mynx need to take some notes from Ms. Dubrinsky, because she definitely has the "goods"....

Not only did she produce a well-paced story that had the right flow, but she also did an excellent job with producing characters that were not flat in the least...

After reading this book, I'm convinced that Ms. Dubrinsky can hold her own with any writer (IRR and Mainstream)...

Giving this one 5 ginormous stars for a job well done!
